Tool retainers
|
Function
Secures/holds the working tool against falling out of the tool bush. During operation, if case of blank firig, it stops the tool from falling out. It can therefore be subject to high impact stresses. When working with a chisel, since the chisel tends to twist, these torsional forces are taken over by the tool retainer, which results in increased wear.
Maintenance
Regular visual inspection of tool retainers condition. Some flat retainers can be rotated to extend the life of the retainer. Damaged retainers have a negative effect on the working tool and it is cheaper to replace the retainer in time than a working tool. Proper lubrication of the bushings is also essential. |
